The cause of ED can be physical or psychological

 

Physical causes include

  • Loss of libido
  • Difficulty in obtaining an erection
  • Difficulty in maintaining an erection for longer period of time

Obesity is a leading cause of ED, excess weight puts a strain on cardiovascular system. So men should reduce weight. Smoking affects the flow of blood, so men should stop smoking in order to prevent ED. They should drink alcohol in moderation. The limit of two drinks per day should not be exceeded. Junk and processed foods does not have any nutrition. The fats present in such foods deposit in the blood vessels supplying blood to the organs; penis in case of ED leading to atherosclerosis (narrowing of blood vessels) which in turn causes ED. Men should undergo regular medical checkup as diseases and disorders such as diabetes and hypertension increase the risk of developing erectile dysfunction. They should also avoid taking recreational drugs as they decrease desire. Getting six to eight hours of undisturbed sleep is absolutely essential for healthy sex life. They should practice relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation to keep your mind calm and should exercise regularly in order to stay fit and active.
